Slitting Line installed in CPC Inox

FIMI Spa has recently finalized the commissioning of a new Slitting Line (Slitter) for CPC Inox, a leading company in the production of stainless-steel strips, bars, sheets and tubes both nationally and internationally.

This Slitter is indeed the last of many lines supplied to the Lombard manufacturer, among which we can count 5 Slitting Lines, 2 Cut to Length Lines as well as numerous revamping interventions.

More specifically, the new Slitter realized ad-hoc for CPC Inox is able to process 300 and 400 AISI stainless-steel coils from 100 mm up to 850 mm wide and between 4 and 15 mm thick. The peculiarity of this line is the possibility to cut and handle very narrow formats (up to 20 mm), even for bigger thicknesses.
This is made possible thanks to an innovative system of assisted guidance and introduction of the strips in the recoiler. The strips are contained as soon as they come out of the slitting shear, they are then blocked and guided to the recoiler by means of a special translating gripper system.
A similar technological solution has already been applied on a functioning line of our client, which was revamped by FIMI technicians in the second half of last year and which now works properly for thicknesses up to 5 mm.

This line is equipped with an innovative slitting shear, designed to minimize the bending of the shafts and to ensure the best cut possible without any burr, and with a revisited braking system with line operation always in “tension” mode, thus eliminating the presence of the loop. Special strapping support systems make it easier and safer for the operator to strap the strips.

The line is provided also with a packing system and with an automatic blade change system to minimize the operator intervention.

All the automation part of the line has been designed and carried out by FIMI Automation.
