1963
FIMI Spa was established in Barzanò, near Lecco, in 1963 by the Brothers Vittorio and Pompeo Rovelli, driven by the desire to follow the example of their father Emilio, who ran a small mechanical shop. In 1964 the company moved its offices to the current headquarters in Viganò, where it continued to grow. From a “small workshop”, FIMI developed and in a short time became a leading company in its industry.
1988
The excellent results achieved in those years pushed FIMI to expand its product range and in 1988 it signed a strong partnership with the company SA.MO., located in Barzanò, able to design and manufacture Slitting Lines and related Slit Coils Packing Line of ferrous and non-ferrous metal strips. The agreement between the two companies allowed the takeover of SA.MO. in FIMI in January 2010.
2006
The increasing number of orders acquired in the Asian continent, pushed FIMI to establish, in 2006, a company totally on its own named FMS. Relying on a team of engineers to support the installations and the after-sales service, FMS starts an on-siteproduction of auxiliary machines based on FIMI’s design and dedicated to Asian customers.
2016
2016 marks a turning point in the history of FIMI. With the entry of Meccanica Adda Fer S.r.l. and a new management, FIMI begins a new phase of its life. In fact, the range of products is further expanded, acquiring leading companies in the industry such as SACMA and SELEMA. Moreover, new offices are opened in Italy and abroad, transforming FIMI in a group with 4 factories and 2 representative offices, 180 employees and an annual turnover of about 60 MLN.

Today, FIMI team is a world leader in the design and construction of Levelling, Cut to Length and Slitting Lines: the number of lines manufactured and delivered to customers all over the world has now exceeded 1,500 units.
